The swimming season is starting and the garden pool can finally be put into operation, but this also means that the time for regular pool maintenance begins again. Unfortunately, the water surface offers a large surface for various types of dirt. To keep this as low as possible, it makes sense to install a skimmer. This automatically cleans the water surface when the pool pump is running. The tedious cleaning with a landing net is therefore almost completely eliminated.

Basically, a skimmer is a surface suction device whose opening is at the same height as the water surface. If the water level rises or falls, the skimmer automatically adjusts to the water level within a fluctuation range of 9 cm. The surface skimmer sucks up the dirt floating on the water surface, such as leaves, insects or grass. The extracted water is fed to the pump, but first passes through a bucket-shaped sieve which catches the coarse dirt. The filter sieve has a handle and can thus be easily removed from the skimmer and collected debris removed. Practical, simple and efficient!

To be able to use the suspended skimmer, you need a filter system that can deliver at least 1900 l/h. Pool pumps with less capacity unfortunately generate too little suction power, which means that the skimmer cannot fulfil its function. Furthermore, you need a pool that either has a top inflatable ring (Quick Up, Fast Set, Easy Set Pool, etc.) or a pool with a tubular steel frame (Steel Frame, Metal Frame, Steel Frame Pool, etc.) to attach the surface suction device. The skimmer set comes with 2 corresponding adapters for attachment to the pool edge. It can therefore be used for pools from all well-known manufacturers.

The connection to the pool pump is made via a hose that runs between the skimmer and the opening on the pool that directs the water to the pump. The skimmer can be connected either with a 32 mm hose or a 38 mm hose (not included). In summary, there are 4 ways to connect the skimmer to the pool´s intake opening.

1. the intake opening of the pool has a socket on the inside onto which the supplied 32 mm connection hose can be plugged directly, or

2. the intake opening has a 38 mm socket, in which case you need a short 38 mm pool hose (not included in the scope of delivery) which is plugged into the skimmer and the opening, or

3. the intake opening has no socket at all on the inside, in which case the 32 mm hose is inserted into the hole in the pool opening with the help of the white, conical hose adapter. If necessary, the adapter can be shortened with a saw to ensure a precise fit in the intake opening.

4. it is an Intex pool with a screw connection, in which case the blue adapter is used to which the skimmer hose is connected.

The advantages of a skimmer for pool maintenance cannot be denied. Daily scooping is no longer necessary. Less pool chemicals are needed, as organic debris is sucked out before it sinks. And the chemical pool care products that are still needed, such as chlorine tablets, chlorine granulate, flocculants, pH agents, etc., can be added directly via the skimmer. Floating dosing dispensers are then no longer necessary. A surface skimmer is therefore a sensible investment in daily pool care. Adapter for attachment to a pool with an inflatable ring. The diameter of the pool ring may be between 14 cm and a maximum of 24 cm.

Robust construction

The construction of the skimmer is robust and durable. The main parts of the surface skimmer are made of ABS plastic, which can be recycled later without any problems.
