A solar pool cover provides an easy way to heat the water in your home pool or swimming pool using the sun. This economical method of water heating uses the warmth of the sun. The solar energy heats the air trapped in the nodules. This warm air then transfers its energy to the water, increasing the water temperature.

Important Handling Notice

For a solar cover, it is important that the nodules of the film float in the water. This means that the solar cover is always placed on the water surface with the nodules facing down. Furthermore, it is important that the solar cover floats and that as little water as possible is on the solar cover. To ensure the pool cover floats independently, it should always be slightly smaller than the water surface to be covered. This ensures that water accumulated on the cover flows back into the pool over the edge of the cover. If the cover is too large, the water cannot flow back into the pool. The cover is pushed underwater, the air in the nodules barely heats up, and the solar heating effect fails.

Durability and Lifespan of a Solar Cover

A solar cover does not last forever, as it is constantly exposed to UV radiation, heat, chlorine, and algaecides during use. Therefore, a solar film is classified as a consumable material. With the thickness of the material, the durability also increases, but the cover becomes stiffer and more unwieldy as the material thickness increases. We have chosen a thickness of 300 my, which we believe provides the best balance between acquisition cost, handling, and lifespan.

It is important that the cover is only used to heat the water. It is not designed as a permanent pool cover. For a permanent pool cover, you should use a polyester cover, as it is more resistant. The solar cover should not be used at air temperatures above 35° Celsius, as the air in the nodules heats up too much and the associated thermal expansion can damage the material and deform the cover.

When the solar cover is not in use, dry it and store it in a place without sunlight.
